Job Overview

As Assistant Commercial Manager you will partner the Commercial Manager and support the Commercial team in providing insight into business performance, opportunity and risk.

Roles & Responsibilities

The roles and responsibilities for Assistant Commercial Manager will be varied and will include, but not be limited to:

1. Support in the preparation of outputs to Operations and Central Finance (incl. balance sheet reconciliations, WIP reporting, contract performance to budget / forecast, etc.) adhering to business deadlines.

2. Support the Commercial Manager in the production of quarterly and annual planning, forecasting and reporting models.

3. Support the commercial team in the monthly financial close within designated timeframes.

4. Analysis of cost base and review of cost allocations in Overheads.

5. Work closely with the operational teams to improve commercial performance across their portfolio of contracts.

6. Work on a continuous improvement basis to reduce the degree of manual intervention in financial processes.

7. Production of key reports (eg. WIP, Debt, Contract P&L’s, etc) to enable the commercial team to review and challenge operations on contract performance.

8. Participation in the process of standardising output across all commercial departments in the business.

9. Participation in the development and implementation of resilient processes to support changes to the business.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential
• Deadline driven accounts environment experience.
• Demonstrates commercial knowledge that provides value added service to the business.
• Part Qualified (ACA, CIMA, AAT or equivalent) or with a desire to pursue this pathway.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work to strict deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good IT Skills including high-level ability in Microsoft Excel.
• Able to work flexibly under pressure.

Desirable
• Experience of ERP systems
