This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Pharmacist to join our Clinical Team and take on a specialist role within the medicine division.
Senior Pharmacist, Band 7 – Frailty and Stroke

The Trust has recently been rated as good by CQC with an extremely positive report on medicines management lead by the pharmacy department having a proactive multidisciplinary working ethos. The Stroke Service has been classed as outstanding nationally receiving good reviews.
This post will give the opportunity for developing your role at a directorate level becoming more integrated in the elderly and stroke team. You will be also be key member of the clinical pharmacy team, working on the wards and supporting the principal pharmacist who lead the Medicine Divisions with medicines governance issues; development of guidelines; use of ePMA and analysis of medicines use and expenditure throughout the speciality.

There will be opportunities for working on the new admission wards currently being built complimenting the stroke and elderly care services and being part of developing new ways of working here for the frail/ elderly care. You will also work with gastroenterology, cardiology and respiratory teams as part of the overall medical service.

A strong team spirit and good communication will be required as well as a desire to have the patient’s safety at the foremost of everything you do.This is an ideal opportunity making a difference to the care of older patients and helps reduce admissions.

There will be opportunities to develop your knowledge and expertise and consider the prescribing course if desired, sharing your expertise with colleagues in other specialities through nurse and doctor training. It will be expected that for the right individual; there are opportunities to gain experience supervising Pre-registration Pharmacists under the guidance of our Pre-registration Facilitator or becoming a line manager for our junior pharmacists.

In return, you can enjoy all the benefits you would expect from working within the NHS. You will also be fully supported and encouraged in developing your clinical qualifications further if required. This is a full-time post but substantially part-time may be considered.
