At CAS Behavioural Health you`ll have the chance to make a real impact on patients and their families. We are a leading provider of specialist adult healthcare and have over 80 services across the UK which specialise in; autism, learning disability, mental health and acquired brain injury.

An exciting opportunity has become available to join us as a Consultant psychiatrist in our brand new service, Brunel in Henbury Bristol.

We opened at the end of 2017 and currently have 4 patients. We will grow to be a 32-bedded neuropsychiatry and neurobehavioural unit (22 rehabilitation beds and 10 neuro degenerative beds). The hospital provides a neuropsychiatric service to individuals with brain injuries, organic brain disorders and degenerative conditions who require specialist therapy-led rehabilitation and support.

In this role you will:

• Have medical responsibility for patients across the service
• Streamline and manage the admissions and discharges for the most efficient use of beds at the hospital
• Be responsible for the supervision of reports for Mental Health Act Tribunals and managers' hearings and would be expected to attend hearings whenever possible
• Lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management and to embed clinical governance within the hospital
• Have overall responsibility of patient treatment plans, whilst liaising with the multidisciplinary team
• Participate in the on-call rota approximately 1 in 7

We are looking for people who have:

• Full GMC Registration
• Recent experience at senior level in Neuropsychiatry or within General Adult Psychiatry with a passion to develop your career within a Neuro / ABI setting
• Relevant experience within a similar setting and working with adults aged 18+
• Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act
• MRCPsych or equivalent
• Ability to work alongside and lead a multidisciplinary team
• In-depth knowledge of Mental Health Legislation
• Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management principles
• Proven record of Continued Professional Development
• Excellent communication skills
