We are recruiting for a Paraplanner Assistant (Junior Paraplanner) to join a very successful and growing Practice of St. James’s Place Wealth (SJP) Management based in Derby.

Role overview

The Paraplanner Assistant role offers a long-term platform for development to the successful candidate. Working within one of the largest and most successful Wealth Management Practices in the East Midlands, you will be given the support and opportunity to progress your career in a structured and rewarding manner.

Working as part of a larger team, you will be supporting Wealth Managers in delivering a first class service to their client bank. The role will initially include tasks such as monitoring initial applications, analysing data received from providers and processing illustrations for the Paraplanning Department. Your attention to detail and technical skills will allow you to process information effectively and accurately, whilst displaying a professional attitude at all times.

The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to study towards their Diploma qualification in Financial Planning, with full support given by the Practice plus the backing of a FTSE 100 company in a structured development programme, via the SJP Paraplanning Academy.

Role content

The Paraplanner Assistant role will compile of a mix of Technical and Administrative duties including (but not exclusively) the following:

• Collate, evaluate and process information received (both internal and external)
• Perform critical yield calculations to determine plan viability
• Create illustrations in line with Adviser recommendations
• High level liaison between providers and clients where necessary
• Perform case analysis to highlight omissions prior to handover to Paraplanning department
• Preparation of Suitability Reports for Advisers to summarise the outcome of client review meetings
• Maintain the Quality of Documentation standards set out by the company
• General supporting administration

Technical Skills and requirements
• Strong technical / analytical skills
• High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Highly numerate (maths skills)
• No previous Paraplanning experience required; however, previous technical experience working within the Financial Services or Wealth Management sector is a requirement.

Personal Attributes
• Previous experience of working within Professional or Financial Services sector
• Excellent level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Able to confidently communicate with individuals of high net worth.
• Ability to manage own workload
• Able to work under pressure to meet specific time deadlines
• Desire and commitment to progress personally within Financial Services, and particularly in Paraplanning
• Articulate, numerate and able to maintain the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality
• Strong team player with a can-do attitude towards the daily challenges of a busy Practice
• Willing and able to complete qualifications which require out of working hours commitment to study.
• Desire to become Diploma qualified in Financial Planning

Additional information
• Salary: Basic of £17-22K plus bonus (OTE of up to £25k per annum).
• Qualifications: Support to complete the Diploma in Financial Planning via the SJP Paraplanning Academy. There shall be incremental salary increases upon successful completion of individual qualifications.
• Bonus: Discretionary based on overall business and individual performance.
• Location: Derby, Pride Park (DE24)
• Hours of work: 9.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Friday
• Holiday entitlement: 20 days per annum, plus bank holidays (increases over time)
• Pension: Provided after 6 months service.
