Sopra Banking Software are recruiting a Unix / Oracle Database Administrator for our team in Dunstable. As an experienced UNIX /Oracle DBA you will work with our Managed Services team providing a key service working within live production environments.

The role is to provide systems administration on day to day business, and project activities to support our customers, and the range of activities includes everything from password resets, performance monitoring and issues, database refreshes to software and hardware upgrades. Attention to detail, quality and getting things right first time are essential.

As an experienced Unix / Oracle Administrator you will:

•Be degree educated in a computer or technology related discipline

•Have a minimum of 3 years' experience as a UNIX/Oracle Administrator

•Have strong UNIX systems administration skills

•Oracle DBA skills with 9/12c in a production environment

•Experience in Solaris, including building, installing, configuring and troubleshooting

•Experienced in Patching, Upgrading and Capacity Planning for both Operating systems and Databases. Specifically using Unix/Linux Shell Scripting (Bash, Awk, Korn, PERL, C-Shell),

•Good working knowledge of RMAN, RAC and Dataguard along with monitoring and Performance Tuning Databases in a UNIX/Solaris Environment and Oracle Application Server OAS would be advantageous.

•Configuration Management, Enterprise Manager, and Sarbanes Oxley Compliance are all highly desirable

Any experience of AWS and RHEL would be desirable

•Applicants must be able to work in a small team environment and be able to interact with customers on a daily basis

•The ability to deal with complex problems

•Positive attitude to trying out different things and offering innovative solutions

•Flexibility in working hours

•Strong verbal and written communication skills

•Ability to manage own workload

•Able to work independently and as part of a team

Due to the nature of the work, there are 2 shifts operating Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4pm and 9.30am to 6pm on alternating weeks.

After an initial training period, there will be a requirement to provide out of hours support on a standby rota covering 1 week in every 5. This is to support our 24/7 operations and support to customers.
