Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for a Speciality Doctor in Old Age Psychiatry for our St.Andrews Wells.
This post is best suited to a Doctor with 2 - 4 years’ experience in Psychiatry and who preferably will have membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
This post will be based in Wells, an area well served by good schooling both state and independent, with easy access to areas of outstanding natural beauty, as well as good commutability from Bristol. Somerset also has some of the most affordable housing in the region contributing to an exceptional quality of life.
The Position
This new post, which will be located in the newly refurbished and adapted inpatient facility at the Priory Park Hospital Site, Wells.
The 22 bed unit is comprised of male and female wings with communal areas adjoining the two. There is a mix of younger and older adults with functional mental illness.
The post holder will work with one Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry and will focus primarily on the inpatients who are older adults. There is a Specialty Doctor for working age adults also covering the St Andrews wards
The successful candidate will be expected to provide emergency cover for working age adults during any short term planned absences of the Specialty doctor covering the St Andrews Wards. There are no day time on call requirements at present, however, there is a plan to develop a daytime S12 rota and subject to gaining S12 approval the postholder would be expected to contribute to this.
The postholder will receive 1 hour dedicated supervision time with the Consultant Psychiatrist on a weekly basis. There will be ring-fenced time for CPD and audit (1 PA).
