Our client, a relatively new name within the mortgage lending sector, are currently recruiting for a Quality Control Analyst to join the Operations team and play a key role in continuing the quality of the mortgage portfolio.

The role holder will be responsible for assessing individual underwritten cases and ensuring they are accurate and compliant, working closely with the Training team to identify areas for improvement. All cases will need to be made within regulatory standards, aligned with business needs and deliver to the lending risk strategy.

Responsibilities:

• Support the Company’s agreed aims and objectives balancing risk and reward
• Assisting Senior Managers with developing and operating a Quality Checking programme, which reviews and reports on the quality of lending decisions carried out by New Lending, taking personal ownership for the reviews, outputs and reporting
• Undertake the assessment of individual cases, providing guidance to the underwriting and sales functions as required as a first line of defence
• Ensures all reporting for quality control are prepared in a timely manner and discussed with Senior Managers prior to any formal publication to areas outside of the team
• Assist colleagues within Credit Risk and the wider Company
• In conjunction with colleagues within Credit Risk, review the performance of the mortgage portfolio, learning from trend analysis how the different elements of credit lending decisions are impacting performance
• Take ownership for Policy, Underwriting and Responsible Lending guidelines in line with TCF ensuring fair customer outcomes
• Bring to the attention of Senior Management any aspects or concerns that may, or will, bring the Company into disrepute through poor lending decisions or colleague behaviours
• Make improvements to policy and process as a direct result of trends you have identified
• Work with the Operational Trainer to support learning and development opportunities of colleagues
• Adhere to the governance controls, working with Credit Risk and Risk

Skills and experience required:

• Experience in a similar role is essential (such as QC or Underwriting)
• Strong understanding of mortgage lending including underwriting, operations and mortgage compliance
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively convey information to various levels of management
• Ability to work independently with attention to detail
• Strong stakeholder management skills
• CeMap is desirable
