We are seeking 2 talented Ward Managers, with the
commitment, experience and motivation to lead two of our low secure wards at Thornford Park Hospital in Thatcham near Newbury. Our 133 bedded hospital
is set in 21 acres of Berkshire countryside, close the Hampshire borders.
Thornford Park Hospital provides care for adult males detained under the Mental
Health Act (1983) who require care in conditions of medium / low security and

One ward
is an enhanced low secure providing 10 beds for males only. The service is for
acutely unwell individuals who have either had failed placements elsewhere due
to their challenging presentations, or need shorter term admissions to treat
their acute episode within a secure provision. Admissions are accepted from a
number of sources nationwide, from NHS and other independent providers. The second ward is our low secure
rehabilitation ward, providing 20 beds for males only. Of those, 13 beds are on
the ward and 7 are flats within the secure site. Patients are self caring and
many do their own cooking and have extended periods of unescorted leave. This
is often the final step for patients leaving secure care to return to the
community. Each ward has a full
Multidisciplinary team consisting of a medical consultant, staff grade speciality
doctor, psychologist, occupational therapist and a link with our social work

The successful applicant will be an
experienced RMN who can demonstrate excellent leadership skills and the ability
to clinically develop the ward through effective staff management, monitoring
clinical standards and practice. You will work closely with the Lead Nurse and Director
of Clinical Services to achieve the hospital targets and ensure the delivery of
high quality care. The post holder will have 24 hour responsibility for
staffing and the effective running of the ward and will also participate in the
hospitals On-Call system.

highly organised with good problem solving skills and the ability to motivate
others. Most importantly, you will be passionate about delivering exceptional standards
of care; priding yourself on being a role model by adhering to the NMC Code of
conduct and demonstrate a real desire to improve and develop our recovery based
