Programme Director - Med Comms
Our client is a successful healthcare communications agency. With offices around the world, they are looking to expand their medical communications team in London with a Programme Director. The Programme Director role is very hands-on and would suit someone with a strong interest and experience in publications planning. Responsible for managing and overseeing projects, client relations, communications strategy and people management, you will be good at multi-tasking and a proactive leader. You will be handling a wide range of assignments and offer effective counsel to clients on complex issues and problems, as well as contributing to the good functioning of the business. This would be an ideal role for a Senior Programme Manager that is looking to take a step up, or a Programme Director that would like to opportunity to work on a big portfolio of projects. Responsibilities: Ensure that clients’ needs and expectations are understood and managed and challenge client briefs Lead formal client meetings and brainstorms Develop strategies and provide senior-level client counsel Plan creative events and programmes and supervise their implementation Manage client crises and issues Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities, pursuing leads, writing programmes and proposals Leverage network of contacts to identify and enhance business opportunities Market specialised knowledge/expertise/capabilities through appropriate channels Contribute to the business strategy of their practice group and deliver in line with this Build client teams and provide guidance to junior staff within the group Develop, manage, adhere to and reconcile budgets, e.g. proactively recost and renegotiate budgets with client when scope of work changes, provide forecasts and capacity planning Negotiate basic new budgets with clients Set up new accounts in liaison with finance team Understand regulatory codes and industry trends, ensuring understanding by other team members and application to medical education programmes Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Educated to degree level in relevant area (communications, pharmacy, science) Significant medical communications experience in an agency required and proven leadership skills Excellent written communication, presentation, meeting facilitation, and strategic/creative skills Broad knowledge of therapy areas, including established professional relationships with a network of opinion leaders Strategic writing skills and the ability to develop communication plans and/or programmes Skilled in new business development; can work with team members to identify and capitalise on business opportunities Good financial acumen and the ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of practice economics and profitability in the management of accounts and mandates Contribute to the development of members of team or practice group through direct line management of other editorial team members Strong analytical skills Attention to detail and good quality-control skills Energetic, hardworking, flexible, and adaptable to different client situations and cultures Strong organisational skills, including ability to prioritise and balance multiple priorities and demands Team player; willing to share information and ideas Proficiency in the use of MS Office, and can easily learn new packages The perfect role for those who relish the idea of playing a key role in publications planning on a large and very active account team.
