Editorial Director / Associate Editorial Director - Med Comms
This is an opportunity to join a leading medical communications agency in the pivotal position of Editorial Director / Associate Editorial Director and be based in their London or Cheshire offices. This position is responsible for providing the company and its clients with editorial, scientific and strategic expertise related to client project needs, client proposals and strategies. The successful candidate will lead a publications team and will manage a team of medical writers and scientific advisers and supervise scientific support in new business development. Responsibilities: Assign editorial projects to medical writers and oversee content development for these projects, ensuring that they are completed on time and within the time allocated in the project estimate. Use scientific expertise, contributing to the strategic direction of client products Analyze and assimilate market and product information in order to provide consultancy advice on product differentiation, positioning and marketing strategy Support project teams, contributing ideas and sharing experiences by drawing on working knowledge of the different tools available for communicating messages in the pharmaceutical industry Take a lead in conceptual development of editorial projects Develop innovative communications strategies and tactics to meet clients’ needs Review other team members’ work for editorial and scientific accuracy Develop and execute processes to maintain the Group’s scientific integrity, writing excellence, quality control and productivity Attend conferences, scientific symposia and advisory boards where appropriate Actively participate in Management Team meetings and act as Editorial Lead in Management Team activities Supervise or take the lead role in the creative development and preparation of proposals and pitches for new business; attend and present at pitches where deemed appropriate Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: BSc in the life sciences, preferably an MSc or PhD or PharmD A wealth of relevant medical marketing writing experience (agency or pharmaceutical) Experience of creating a wide range of marketing materials over a range of therapy areas Experience in mentoring and managing staff Expert computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and online medical resources This is an opportunity to work as part of the management team and have an input into account and agency direction.
