As the Business Intelligence Engineer you will be part of an engineering team, you will analyse, design, implement and support business intelligence dashboards for both internal and external customers. You will be working as part of the Clinical Trial Intelligence department, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders in Business Operations, Engineering, Architecture, and Product Leadership. A key aspect of the role will be to help build, establish & grow the Clinical Trial Intelligence department. As such, the role will be oriented towards team work in an emerging and flexible environment. Strong database and SQL skills are required along with analytical & problem solving skills. Key Accountabilities: - Produce, robust, well designed, and maintainable business intelligence in line with departmental standards, industry best practice and customer requirements. - Document work to agreed standards and procedures. - Facilitate internal and external customers to analyse requirements for new dashboards. - Liaising with Quality/SQA departments as the project demands. - Support and maintain deployed dashboards. - Maintain a positive, results orientated work environment, building partnerships and teamwork, communicating to the team in an open, balanced and objective manner. - Participate in formal staff review processes e.g. performance and salary reviews to corporate standards and timescales. - Manage assigned tasks escalating issues to project/departmental managers Qualifications Skills - Experience with BI visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI - Strong SQL skills. - Strong skills in Business Intelligence visualisation tools such as Tableau, Spotfire or Power BI. - Client focused approach to work. - A flexible attitude with respect to work assignments and new learning. - Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks with enthusiasm and prioritize workload with attention to detail. - Willingness to work in a matrix environment and to value the importance of teamwork. - Be a well-organized, confident, self-motivated, team player, and a resourceful, responsive, dependable, creative and innovative professional. - Demonstrate a proactive approach to Continuing Professional Development and Learning. Experience in the following areas will be advantageous: - Oracle - SSRS - Business Objects. - An understanding of Systems Engineering. - An understanding of agile development practices. - Hands-on experience and exposure to various analytics techniques, methodologies, and approaches (including Big Data Analytics). Education: - Degree or MSc in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or other science related field, or equivalent project-related experience. Language Skills - Strong English communication skills in both written and verbal formats is essential Minimum Work Experience - Commercial experience of requirements gathering and analysis for non-technical clients. - Strong database and SQL skills are essential. - Strong analytical & problem solving skills are needed. - Previous BI experience and handling Big Data is essential. - Experience with BI visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI is essential.
