Fixed term contract

£30,000 - £36,000 pa

12 month fixed term contract with potential to lead to a permanent role.

Our client and their partner university have an opportunity for a high calibre graduate to work on a web based software system for stock control and accounting for fresh produce wholesalers and importers, based on new and legacy software/hardware, supporting both local and international financial transactions.

Although you will be employed by the University for the duration of the fixed term contract, you will be based full-time at the company's premises in Basildon, Essex. You will be working closely with the company owner who currently supports many companies using the legacy software, and key staff from the University's computing and accounting departments.

After completion of the contract the aim is to transfer your employment to the company on a permanent basis to head up the team rolling out the software to current and new clients, whilst also developing upgrades to the software when required. During the training and building of an international support team for the software, international travel is a real possibility.

You should be willing to get involved in all aspects of the company's operations, including:

·Researching and formally documenting the requirements of users and other stakeholders in terms of functionality and usability;

·Identifying Minimal Viable Product (MVP) for launch/pilots;

·Analysing legacy system and document required designs based on findings;

·Developing the system back-end server;

·Developing the system front-end, formalising the back end processes;

·Carrying out product validation using data provided by the company and hosted on their databases;

·Ensuring that the product complies with local and international transaction regulations;

·Undertaking alpha and beta testing

A generous training budget will be available to support you throughout the project.

With a degree in a computer science related subject with information systems at its core, you will have experience in web based (cloud) software design. You will also have sound knowledge of web technologies and programming language skills, particularly HTML, CSS, JavaScript, C#, MVC and SQL server. Self-motivated and able to work to strict deadlines, you will be an effective communicator with clients and colleagues at all levels. Knowledge of accounting is not a requirement.
