We are currently recruiting for creative and fun sessional Construction tutors to deliver Construction and Multi Skills.

We are looking for Construction tutors that can inspire those who have had a little to no education or a shaky start in life to see value in learning.

We are looking for the kind of Construction tutors that recognise when challenging behaviour is down to lack of understanding and low self-esteem and are able to reach out to those learners and build them back up.

We need Construction tutors that get excited by writing engaging schemes of work that engage students across all walks of life and abilities getting them actively involved in learning.

If job satisfaction is important to you, then perhaps you should consider Offender Learning as a career path. Below is the feedback from an ex-prisoner on how education changed their life – Could you be the next life changing tutor?

“ I made the decision that I needed to make a change in my life and to do that it would mean that I needed to learn. I had always had lots of interests but education was never one of them. As the teachers helped me to build my self-confidence and self-esteem I came to realise that I actually enjoyed learning. People saying well done and praising me, that inspired me to say I enjoyed education and it was a positive thing. I saw that learning could help me achieve new things and change my life for the better and that it could be the key to set me free.
Education has impacted on my life in many ways: my family has noticed the change in the way I talk, I have a healthier relationship with my kids and can now even read them bed time stories. Before I went to prison I could barely read and write more than a few words.
Learning how to read and write was the greatest accomplishment of my life. It has given me the tools I needed to reshape my future. I was reminded of the old saying, "It's not how hard you fall; it's how quickly you pick yourself up!" I am thankful for the unique opportunity I was provided with in prison to gain an education. Not only has it changed not only my life, but also my children's.”

Offploy have formed a partnership with Milton Keynes College whom provide one of the largest offender learning provisions in the UK. The College works each year with approximately 5,000 learners from the age of 14 upwards, on a range of learning programmes, to support the progression of self-development and on to a coherent career pathway leading to higher level learning and/or employment. In 2015/16, they worked with approximately 31,000 offender learners across 28 prisons. Their overall success rates were 90% and their overall success rates for Maths and English were 80%. To date, they have placed 139 of our offender learners into sustainable employment.
