PERMIT OFFICER – (NEBOSH and IOSH Managing safely)

Location – Fife

We are delighted to bring a fantastic new and exclusive opportunity to the market, to join a leading chemical manufacturer that has well-established history of producing high quality specialist products based in Scotland, that truly has an international presence. Due to natural growth and continued success of their operations, we are now seeking a Permit Officer to join their technical division.

Reporting directly into the Site Shift Manager, the position has been newly created to assist with the day to day management of their Health, Safety and Environmental division. The key requirements for the role are:

• Day to day management and issue of work permits. Ensuring they are completed to a suitable and sufficiently high standard, and completed when maintenance activities have been undertaken.
• Day to day management of Isolation certificates and verification of effective and safe isolation of plant and equipment.
• Evaluation and management of risk assessments upon which permits to work will be issued.
• Effective daily monitoring of Permits in progress, recording, and addressing deficiencies and deviations from agreed control measures.
• Periodic review of permit monitoring and recommendation of corrective actions.
• To understand safety and environmental legislation and Health, Safety and Environmental compliance is the first priority
• Handle materials safely, demonstrating the highest regard for the environment and our safety
• To adhere to the site Permit to Work system and follow all stipulated controls
• To assess the risks associated with all work carried out and take adequate precautions
• To support and participate in Hazard Operability Studies (HAZOPS)

Ideally, my client is looking for the skills and experience that have worked in a manufacturing environment in a similar role and responsibilities within Mechanical or Process Engineering environment. Experience working with work permits and risk assessments. We are looking for qualification NEBOSH would be essential with IOSH Managing Safely Qualification would be highly desirable.

The successful candidate must be able to display strong values in entrepreneurship, innovation, problem solving abilities, leadership skills and to be able to demonstrate working independently and as an active contributing member of the team.
