This position requires a sound scientific knowledge and a strong engineering bias. Ideally the holder will have experience in a similar or related Industry. The position will entail direct involvement in activities related to practical application in Destructive Testing laboratory procedures.

This position will entail performing a range of Corrosion biased tests to National and International standards. UKAS (Iso 17025) and NADCAP.

Initial 3-month training will be provided to develop the relevant technical skills and expertise. Multi-skilled training thereafter is a continuous program to be become familiar with other test type procedures, Salt spray, Stress Corrosion (SCC), Microscopy, Image analysis/SEM, Sample preparation Sectioning-Polishing/mounting, Etching, further advantages if familiar with Mechanical testing, Fracture toughness, Fatigue testing-LCF/HCF.

The individual should need to be prepared to have a practical approach to testing and the various support activities. Ideally you should be aware of 'quality systems application', quality assurance and quality control in particular applicable to the United Kingdom Accreditation Service, (UKAS) / Nadcap and will need to become aware of and understand the relevant standards applicable to scientific tests, working from specific instruction documentation is critical as is attention to details within.

It is possible in future that you will be asked to deal with certain aspects of our quality management system including internal audits and Corrective action maintenance etc.

Training will be provided in all aspects of the various test disciplines required and in particular with respect to WMT&R Ltd methods, techniques and software functionality. Some training may be carried out off-site or at the parent company.

The candidate should possess good interpersonal and communication skills, some report writing will be involved in the day to day function enabling them to readily integrate into a small team.

Computer literacy is a must as most daily tasks are PC based as are our quality and business systems.
