Client has nearly 100 years of experience behind them, and are world leaders in their field. They are looking for a Design Engineer who is able to design precision engineered complex bespoke assemblies of an electromechanical nature whilst being able to manage all facets of the project life as required as part of a Project team.

The ideal candidate will have a proven design background with bespoke capital equipment experience with strong 3D design experience and good commercial acumen. They should be a confident, self-motivated mechanical engineer who is eager to take responsibility for the project lifecycle within an established forward thinking engineering team and company-wide project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Key Skills Required:
• Assisting with testing of equipment as required
• Compiling manufacturing packs to assist fitting engineers with assembly of machinery
• Working as part of a project team maintaining responsibilities throughout the Project life
• Compiling and amending Bill of materials, and uploading BOM’s to the MRP system
• Working on new design concepts to increase equipment capabilities or to reduce machine costs.
• conducting feasibility studies for new concepts
• Working on design solutions for the sales team
• Assisting the shop floor team with build queries
• Presenting designs at design review stage
• Completing DCR’s as and when required
• 3D design work on a project by project basis
• Working in a design office some typical day to day duties for a Design Engineer would be:
• 3D & 2D CAD design
• Complex assemblies and Sub-assemblies
• Strong experience with tolerances and fits
• Experience with a multitude of different design areas – Press tools, pneumatics, fabrications, machined components, rotating elements, sensors, actuators, conveyors, drive mechanisms, gears
• Cable management, routing and consideration for electrical components
• Experience with ferrous and non-ferrous materials
• Blank sheet design ability must be demonstrated
• Conducting design reviews
• Ability to manage design projects against target hours/schedule
• Use of MRP / ERP systems and CAD data management + MS office products
• Experience of design change processes

Person Specification:

• Creo Elements Direct Modelling / Drafting preferred but other 3D systems will be considered.
• Able and willing to get involved with hands on work when required
• Willingness to support others and the company during peak times
• Eager to take on new design challenges
• Strong problem solving skills
• Ability to design efficiently and cost effectively
• Able to travel globally to visit customer or suppliers when required
• Ambition to develop and succeed

Hours and Benefits:

• 37 hour working week
