Working within the SCC Internal IT department’s Business Information Team to develop and maintain complex and advanced applications, ETL packages, SQL queries and Databases that provide the foundation for SCC’s BI suite in addition to producing basic reports as and when required.

The successful candidate will not only be technically proficient and experienced in a range of BI-related skills but also able to liaise with other areas of the business to gather requirements and translate them into robust, scalable solutions which deliver against the needs of the business in a fast-moving environment.

Key responsibilities would include:

• Analysis, design and development of BI applications and ETL solutions
• Working on both complex projects and basic reports
• Manipulating data from core applications to populate secondary applications and data warehouses
• Developing specific Business Information solutions such as dashboards and interactive summaries
• Designing and developing report access and delivery methods

Additionally the role would include:

• Providing 3rd-line support of BI applications and solutions
• Occasional out of hours work
• Monitoring and recommendation of industry trends and advances in products and solutions that could be utilised to improve the team’s performance/capacity.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential

• Proven experience and demonstrable skills within MS SQL Server 2008 R2 and above
• Proven experience and demonstrable skills within TSQL Development
• Proven experience and demonstrable skills within SSIS and SSRS
• Experience in Architecting, developing, implementing and documenting ETL and BI solutions
• Accuracy of work and attention to detail
• The ability to own a development project though its entire lifecycle, from analysis to delivery
• An analytical approach to problem solving and being able to think through ramifications of actions
• Commercial acumen, to understand the purpose of the task or request and be able to expand and improve on the initial requirement
• To be flexible if occasional out of hours work is required
• Organised and self-motivated
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong executive presence and ability to interact with people at all levels of the business
• Time management skills – the ability to work on multiple projects and activities at the same time.
• The ability to work to tight deadlines and SLAs

Desirable

• Experience or a good understanding of Data Warehousing principles
• General Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations / Microsoft Dynamics AX
• Specific experience of the Dynamics 365 for Operations / Microsoft Dynamics AX AOT, DAX and MDX
• Experience of dealing with Finance departments
• Commercial knowledge of the IT industry
• Experience or a good understanding of the Microsoft BI technology stack such as Power Query, Power BI etc.
• Experience or a good understanding of other BI tools such as Business Objects, QlikView etc.
• Experience or a good understanding of PLSQL
