The Hinkley Point C Project is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe. During the business construction phase over 5,600 people will work on the site.

The project marks the rebirth of the UK's nuclear industry and will present invaluable opportunities for Somerset, the South West and wider UK.

We are currently Marine Civil Engineer to provide support to the Project Engineering Lead in the design management and surveillance of Marine works design packages.

Main Duties and responsibilities

* Report directly to the NNB SE Enabling Team Manager,
* Support the HPC Enabling Works Project Engineering Leads during the design and construction phases,
* Provide technical support on the surveillance of Marine works design packages,
* Liaise and co-ordinate with the wider HPC Project team (including the Responsible Designer),
* Support the Project Engineering Lead in delivering technical references, input data, level 1 & 2 design schedules and reporting,
* Assist with the management, surveillance, coordination and the review of the detailed design, in order to deliver to programme the design packages for construction,
* Challenge designers in terms of proposed solutions (i.e. reduction of design/construction cost, technical requirements, sustainability, suitability of detailed designs, quality of detailed designs, etc),
* Assist with the coordination / organisation of CDM Review meetings and liaison with the NNB Principal Designer and CDM-A with respect to design development,
* Assist with the management of relevant interfaces (technical & functional) within the Enabling Works programme (and other interfacing projects) applicable to Enabling Works design packages,
* Manage design change and provide responses to Requests for Information (RFI), Field Change Requests (FCR) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR)
* Comply with NNB QA policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

* Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver design and management of infrastructure projects,
* Experienced in British and European Standards for civil works,
* Good general civil engineering design and site experience is essential,
* Marine experience would be an advantage but is not essential,
* Enhanced organisational skills,
* Typically degree qualified or equivalent in a related discipline,
* Membership of a Professional Institute is preferable but not essential,
* Working knowledge of the CDM Regulations,
* General professional qualities to include accuracy, tenacity, result-oriented and teamwork-oriented attitude, diplomacy,
* Excellent communication/interpersonal skills notably with various levels of the organisation and externally,
* Discretion - Confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information,
* The individual is to be vetted to at least a basic level (BPSS).
* Compliance with health, safety, environment and other statutory requirements relevant to this role
* Ability to work independently and be proactive
* To be responsible for the management, organisation and filing of electronic and physical documents and records as appropriate
* Maintain data/records so that information is readily available and easily accessible

This position will be based in Bridgwater working on the HPC project with travel to other project sites including Bristol and London as required.
