Senior Calibration Engineer

Summary
The company is a privately owned, medium sized company, specialising in development and manufacture of exhaust and after treatment systems for internal combustion engines. With R&D being central to its success, it has a history of market-leading technology development and is sought out by OEMs and retrofit customers for its specialist expertise. It is currently embarking on a strategy to grow and diversify its business further and is seeking to recruit high calibre engineers with emissions and low-carbon expertise to support this growth.
The Senior Calibration Engineer is a senior engineering role supporting the technical development of a wide range of emissions control and environmental product development projects.

Responsibilities
• Support the technical development of new emissions and low-carbon products from concept evaluation through to production, utilising internal and external test and development resource
• Plan, supervise and report out system test programmes
• Develop and document calibration procedures for new products and concept demonstrations, some of which may be outside the company’s core expertise of exhaust and after treatment systems
• Advise on and make recommendations for, with supporting business case, the toolchain to support the companies strategic business plan and associated product development aspirations
• Contribute to department process development
• In conjunction with other departments and engineering disciplines, support the assessment of new technologies to establish their technical and commercial attractiveness to the company
• Support the Principal Control Engineer to plan and manage section resources, workload and budgets
• Within projects and product developments, identify opportunities for and develop company intellectual property.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
• A good degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Control Engineering, or an appropriate scientific discipline.

Previous Experience
• Broad understanding of automotive powertrain
• Extensive experience of the development and application of calibrations to automotive emissions or low-carbon technology
• Exposure to or direct experience of any or all of the following engineering disciplines: CAE; control/electronics engineering; energy systems.

Salary Benefits and Conditions of Appointment
• Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience - 39 hour week.
• Holidays - 24 working days holiday plus statutory days
• Holiday allowance increases by one day per complete calendar year to a maximum of 29
