HVAC Engineer
Type: Contract
Duration: 6 – 9 Months
Location: Bury, Greater Manchester
Rate: Up to £360 per day

As a member of the design team, the primary purpose of the HVAC Engineer is to assist the Design Manager or Lead Engineer to achieve the objectives of the Company with respect to HVAC designs for both internal and external clients. This will help to ensure maximum commercial and technical effectiveness and efficiency is maintained.

The core responsibilities of the HVAC Engineer will include;

- Producing and developing designs for HVAC services / systems
- Carrying out site surveys to identify the Client`s needs and requirements
- Ensuring designs meet user requirements, cost limits and time scales
- Preparing estimates for the implementation of HVAC services
- Producing tender enquiry documents in respect of contracts for the provision of HVAC services / systems
- Contributing to co-operative working across disciplines in accordance with the company`s procedures
- Contributing to ensure that effective internal/external working relationships are established and maintained with clients, sub-contractors and specialist suppliers
- Ensuring cross discipline collaboration with other internal and external designers
- Contributing to the preparation of Health and Safety method statements and risk assessments in respect of construction work as required by the project to meet current legislation
- Monitor and comment on sub-contractors work as may be required on individual projects

Essential Requirements

- A min. HNC in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in the design, installation and management of HVAC services
- Possess a working knowledge of current legislation and practices in all elements associated with HVAC / mechanical building services
- To be conversant in the following:

- Computerised Building Management Systems
- Design Analysis / Calculation Software
- HAZOPs / Design Risk Assessments

- Ability to work to deadlines, under pressure and on own initiative
- Possess good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to communicate well at all levels and be able to control certain financial aspects of contracts and/or projects
- Experience in the planning, organising and control of sub-contractors, be able to provide services to agreed standards, time scales and budgets.

Highly Desirable Skills

- Experience of Quality systems to BS EN ISO 9001
- To be conversant in the following:

- Industrial hot and cold-water systems
- Mechanical handling plant and equipment
- Process plant and equipment
