Maintenance Supervisor

Job role
To manage an efficient and effective service ensuring all machinery and facilities are maintained and improved both electrically and mechanically through the planned maintenance schedule process and the maintenance job card system.

Key duties and responsibilities
• To manage the maintenance team to provide electrical and mechanical engineering support to the manufacturing operations ensuring minimal downtime of all plant and machinery and ensuring cost control is maintained at all times
• To manage the maintenance team on a day to day basis ensuring their welfare and health and safety are maintained effectively, providing an environment where morale and motivation are high through the understanding of individuals personal aspirations and needs
• Utilise the maintenance team resources to ensure the resources available are allocated to breakdowns, tasks, improvements and refurbishment priorities
• To develop and manage a TPM schedule for all plant and machinery to minimise breakdowns and improve machine capability
• To develop the maintenance systems for breakdowns, tasks, servicing, spares, improvements and refurbishment to improve machine downtime and capability
• To provide cover for absence within the maintenance team when required
• To manage and develop the maintenance team, through regular appraisals and reviews of skills and competency, identify any gaps and implement training plans
• To ensure effective communications within the team and also with key customers in manufacturing
• To liaise effectively with external suppliers and contractors to ensure best service and pricing opportunities are maintained
• To respond to breakdowns through the job card system and in line with the priority system
• To carry out maintenance and improvement tasks through the job card system
• To record breakdown and task information on completion of repair or improvement using the appropriate system both manual and electronic
• To carry out servicing of machines and ancillary equipment as per the relevant schedules
• To source and obtain parts and materials as required following the procedures of the procurement system
• To work with production teams in the introduction of new or the relocation of existing plant and machinery from initial request through to commissioning and hand over to production.
• To maintain the relevant stock levels of spares and consumables reviewing and updating the register
• To ensure the correct tools and equipment are available to carry out the tasks and repairs
• To ensure 5S standards are maintained in the maintenance workshop at all times
• To ensure all work is carried out to relevant regulations and health and safety standards
• To support the development and improvements in manufacturing through implementation of Lean and Continuous Improvement opportunities
• Ensure housekeeping is maintained to the highest standard and that all relevant company Health and Safety and Environmental requirements are fully adhered to.
