Mechanical Design Engineer

Consett, County Durham

Permanent position

£20,000 to £35,000 depending on experience.

My client is a leading manufacturing company, Based in Consett, County Durham, They now have a requirement for a Mechanical Design Engineer.
As the Mechanical Design Engineer your primary role will be to design a range of innovative solutions from initial concept through to serial production.

Happy to consider applications from graduates through to fully experienced Mechanical Design Engineers with proven industry knowledge and experience.

Salary £20,000 to £35,000 depending on experience.

The Role
To fully understand customer needs, translating those into innovative engineering solutions.
Work closely with multi-disciplined teams to ensure customer requirements are achieved and projects are delivered on time, cost, budget and quality.
Design reviews on new product designs.
Undertake detailed analysis of components and products identifying cost reduction, product improvement and warranty reduction opportunities within the business involvement in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
Developing design concepts which comply with legislative requirements.
Develop test plans for new and existing products to ensure the product meets customer needs.
Ensure design files and information are kept up to date, and stored in accordance with departmental procedures.
Ensure all new projects meet relevant certification and safety regulations.
Communicate and present design ideas and solutions to customers and colleagues.
Contribute to multiple projects at any one time.
Carry out feasibility studies for new technical innovations.

Applicant requirements.
Must hold relevent ONC / BTEC / HNC / HND / Degree qualification in a Mechanical engineering discipline.
Proven experience in the design and development of new products is preferable.
Experience in handling multiple projects.
Sound knowledge of manufacturing/production processes.
IT proficient with 2D/3D software packages (ideally, Inventor).
MS Office (Word, Outlook).
Confident with a pro-active approach and a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Demonstrable practical skills in design of prototype products.
Full UK driving licence.

Dayshift hours, Monday to Thursday 08.00am to 5.00pm, Friday 08.00am to 1.00pm.
Company Pension scheme.
Up to £35,000 salary
