Materials Handler

Job purpose:
Responsible for the safe supply and delivery of raw materials, shop packs creation, Chemical blacking and bead blasting of parts.
The purpose of the role is to meet the key tasks and responsibilities listed below to the best standard possible in line with the KPI's shown.

• Machine shop support activities as required

1.To be fully aware of the requirements laid down by Company Health & Safety Policy the COSHH Act, and ensure they are being adhered to. Ensure that any associated work area is a safe working environment with the emphasis on:
• Safe working practices including tidiness and housekeeping
• Safe use of regularly maintained material handling equipment
• Recognition and ability to deal with hazards and hazardous materials.
• Aware of COSHH and RIDDOR regulations and abide by them.

2, To set and maintain high standards in the Raw material stores, Blacking Plant and processing areas including:
• Maintaining a tidy, clean and safe environment.
• Adopting safe working practices.
• Ensuring stock accuracy - through regular sample checks and auditing
• Providing care, protection and security of stock (where necessary)
• Utilising efficient and effective materials handling methods
• Communicate with internal customers face to face and by telephone.

3,Operational activities within Raw Material Stores and Blacking Plant to include:
• Loading and unloading of materials and machine parts
• Taking delivery of raw materials, Receiving, signing and booking in of goods
• Correctly identifying and marking goods
• Loading & Unloading lorries using forklift truck
• Setting and operating Band sawing machines.
• Setting and operating the Shot blasting Cabinet.
• Monitoring and Operating the Chemical Blacking Plant

4,To ensure the maintenance logs are maintained and maintenance requirements are thoroughly carried out according to the requirements of the machines you operate.

5,All machine breakdowns are notified and recorded however minor as laid out in procedures.

6,To participative in all activities initiated by the Supervision.

7, Highlight training needs as deemed necessary to fulfil job role.

9,Accidents and incidents are reported to the Supervisor in a timely manner and observing RIDDOR regulations.

10, Ensure all product and administration disciplines are met, in line with our ISO Quality Standard.

11,To recommend appropriate process changes to ensure continuous improvement.

• On-going risk assessment and machine risk assessments.

• Folk lift driving
The person should have the following behaviours and traits- Great teamwork skills, Flexibility, Good communication skills verbal and written, Trustworthy, self-motivated and with a good work ethic.

Physical requirements
The role can be physically demanding at times so the person must be physically healthy due to the need to move and handle awkward and heavy items. The role requires that the person must be active and able to stand on their feet for extended periods of time
