Mechanical Fitter - Diesel

Our client is the world leader in hazard protection engineering, is looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join its engineering and manufacturing facility in Shoreham, West Sussex.

To work as part of the Industrial Assembly team to produce forklift truck conversions.

Contribute directly to the out-put of the department, by working as part of the
team to fulfill the planned projects on cost, at agreed quality and on time.

Key accountabilities:

• To be accountable to the Team Leader for all actions including good practice on all aspects of Health & Safety as it affects oneself and the department.

• To work to Company’s Safe Systems of Work, Risk Assessments & Health &Safety Manual in all that the role requires.

• To follow detailed engineering drawings - this could include electrical and fabrication drawings.

• To carry out all reasonable tasks as requested by the Team Leader.

• A key player in aiding conversions by collecting data, completing documentation and taking best build photos.

The following attributes would be an advantage.

• The ability to support Engineering in development work by talking through ideas, using photographs to allow CAD departments to do detail drawings etc.

• Able to advise where continuous improvements can be made for both procedures and processes.

Person Specification:
The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a mechanical fitter or mechanic. Knowledge of engine electrical packages would be an advantage as would be fabrication and welding.

The applicant must have a positive can do attitude, ability to problem solve, be well organised, work on own initiative and communicate effectively.

Evidence of qualifications may be required.

The basic hours are 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday.
Rate: PAYE £12.40ph + 33 days accrued holiday LTD £15.34ph
