An exciting new opportunity for an Inspection Process Lead has arisen to join our team in Barnoldswick.

As an Inspection Process Lead within Rolls-Royce, you will have the opportunity to join the Compressors team to develop and improve the inspection methods of Front Bearing Housings and High Pressure/Intermediate Pressure (HP/IP) components. You will work with manufacturing to develop 3 Dimensional Structured Light (3DSL) and Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) inspection technology for our customers.

Key Accountabilities

* Technically leading the Situational Communication Apprehension Measurement (SCAM) team and coordinating their workload.
* Coordinating manufacturing engineering activities related to the components inspection.
* Developing, implementing, maintaining and continuously improving manufacturing inspection processes and/or methods of inspection which are capable of meeting our requirements for quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time.
* Working with the component engineering community to establish new component definition methodologies and to optimise measurement methodologies.
* Creating and validating CMM inspection programmes using Mitutoyo MCOSMOS and PC-DMIS programming software and validating GOM inspection programmes using GOM Inspect programming software.
* Working with equipment suppliers, centres of excellence and Communities of Practice to optimise the performance of our 3DSL/CMM measurement systems.



* Solid knowledge and practical experience of measurement; particularly an understanding of measurement system validation.
* Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
* A sound understanding and practical experience of CMM programming and manufacturing improvement projects/process improvement in a manufacturing environment.
* Good understanding of Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R) and issues around measurement uncertainty and the relationship to drawing tolerances.


* Experience with Mitutoyo MCOSMOS and PC-DMIS.
* Experience with GOM Inspect and Polyworks inspection software.
