About the role:

NG Bailey are seeking a Design Engineer - Electrical, to join our Reading offices. The role will support Design Manager in providing a high-quality design service covering all the mechanical and / or electrical aspects (within jobholder's specialist area) of projects from inception through to project completion and client handover.


- Effectively assists the design team, to achieve all agreed goals and objectives relating to the area of building services design.
- Be fully conversant with the departmental and company.
- Method Statements, associated guidance manuals and technical standards / regulations relevant to the Design & technical engineering needs of the company.
- Assist in all design & build work throughout the branch in collaboration with the contract teams, participate in design reviews and appraisals as necessary.
- Assist with design / technical assessment of all tenders within the branch, paying particular attention to the technical risk assessment of both traditional and design & build projects, highlighting opportunities and mitigating technical risk.
- Undertake schematic and detailed design of installations / schemes within the remit of the jobholder's specialist skill area.
- Be conversant with the various design software packages used throughout the company, and when necessary, use them to good effect to carry out design related activities.
- Gain an understanding of the principles and operation of Dynamic Thermal Modelling Software used as part of the design process.
- Gain an awareness of the capabilities of REVIT MEP and Autodesk fabrication.
- Ensure that the company's Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures are constantly adhered to in all aspects of building services design.

About you:

- Proven experience within the building services / M&E industry
- Excellent knowledge of design specifically within building services
- Proactive problem solver, with strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of individuals
- Team player, enabling collaboration wherever possible

You may have experience of the following: Electrical Design Engineer, Building Services, Design Engineer, BIM Coordinator, CAD Technician, etc.
