Junior CAD/CAM Design Engineer

Location: Staplehurst, Kent
Salary: £20K - £24K per Annum, DOE
Contract: Full time, Permanent
Hours: 42.5 hours per week

Due to continued growth and expansion, my client is now currently recruiting for a Junior CAD/CAM Design Engineer looking to take the next step in their career.

About the Junior CAD/CAM Design Engineer role:

Reporting to the Development Director, this is an excellent entry level opportunity to work as member of our team using the latest 3D CAD/CAM software.

The role will require you to work closely within the design team to produce 3D models and production drawings for our clients. You will also be responsible for providing support to our manufacturing department with flat pattern development and processing for our range of CNC machinery.

Training will be given in all aspects of this role, but a good general knowledge of CAD and the ability to read and understand engineering drawings is essential.

Key Tasks/Duties of this role:

• Design of bespoke 3D models
• Creation of 2D production drawings
• Client/Sales team liaison to identify design requirements
• Specification and creation of associated BOM’s
• Flat pattern development of sheet metal enclosures
• Nesting and post processing
• Supporting Sales & Production teams in achieving targets and outputs

Essential skills:

• Good general knowledge of CAD systems
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
• Motivated team player, possessing good inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate to staff at all levels
• Proficient in MS office

Desirable Skills – NOT Essential:

• Experience of Autodesk Inventor CAD software
• Experience of RADAN CAM software
• Experience of working with precision sheet metal products
• Experience of working in a CAD environment to create 3D models and 2D production drawings
• Experience of working with CAM software to produce machine programs
• Experience with flat pattern development of sheet metal components
• Experience of working within a quality management standard (minimum to ISO 9001)
