We are working on behalf of our client a manufacturing company based in Cambridge. This exciting role is due to expansion of their systems team! The position is to complement the Mechanical Design Engineers in the New Applications team.

Start: ASAP
Location: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
Hours: 8.30am – 5pm Monday – Friday (Early finish at 16.30pm every other Friday)
Salary: £Negotiable!

To be suitable for this role you will have experience in both the design and development of new products. You will ideally have experience of using AutoCAD, Easy-PC and Inventor software packages. We will consider both temporary and permanent candidates for this role.

Main Responsibilities:

• Contribute to new product design from concept to design drawings, utilising the expertise of the Engineering, Systems and Design Teams
• Contribute electrical design expertise to this team.
• Taking the ideas of the project leaders and developing industrialised solutions
• Investigate equipment, techniques, materials and hardware for new products
• Give technical customer support where required
• Project manage specific small projects
• Provide support/provide expert advice for current production equipment
• Travel will be required to attend conferences, exhibitions or customer visits

Knowledge and Experience:

• Knowledge and experience of 3 phase power and high power switching electronics
• Knowledge of analogue control
• Knowledge of programming C++ or similar
• Experience of programming PLCs would be an advantage
• Experience of product design with Low Voltage Directive compliance
• Experience of design for EMC compliance, regulatory and safety requirements
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
• Substantial experience in an Electrical Engineering role
• Extensive working knowledge of standard manufacturing and engineering
• processes
• Proven expertise in designing and developing new products
• Good communication skills – able to work across team/across functions
• Strong organisational and problem solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail
