The business are a market leading lighting solutions manufacturer and are working exclusively with Perpetual Engineering Partnerships to recruit a career-focused product design engineer to join a brand new product development team. Whitecroft provide a wide range of lighting solutions for Commercial, Education, Healthcare and Retail applications and are experiencing exciting times. They have multi-disciplined teams of product design engineers with a successful real-world track record of translating ideas into first class products.

They realise that in the midst of rapid advancement of lighting components and new technologies, there needs to be a corresponding development in the engineering and synthesis of these new technologies into practical, real-world products. This is a key appointment within the technical design team, tasked with generating new product concepts and ideas which are also quality, practical and cost effective. It is also an outstanding opportunity for a bright, mechanical or product design engineer with an effective mix of practical engineering, aesthetic design and commercial product delivery skills.

As an experienced product (BSc rather than BA) or mechanical (BEng or MEng) design engineer ideal skills and qualities include:

* 12 months to 5 years design experience in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
* An attitude and willingness to succeed.
* A passion and desire for concept design and development.
* A practical and functional can-do personality, together with an excellent attention to detail.
* An excellent ability to solve design and general engineering problems.

The role is both diverse and challenging, comprising of new product development, concept and project work including materials selection, purchasing, costings, prototype and manufacture. You need to be a mechanical/product design engineer with a positive approach, who also enjoys working in a dynamic team environment. You need to have a good 3D solid modelling understanding and analytical problem solving skills which are second to none, as well as excellent practical skills when building samples and delivering a commercially viable (cost effective, functional and feasible) products. Ideal backgrounds could include an engineered or aesthetic (but practical) product manufacturing environment.
