Blatchford is an award winning rehabilitation provider, who are proud to be industry leaders in the Prosthetics and Orthotics market, with first class manufacturing facilities, distributing product throughout the UK and overseas, as well as being the leading supplier of services and products to the NHS.

We are now looking for a Design Engineer, to join our research and development team based in Basingstoke and play an integral role, focusing on the engineering design of special seating for disabled adults and children and supporting new and improved products being introduced.

The successful applicant will work to improve the quality of current and new products by meeting market requirements as outlined by the Product Manager, and through a User Centered Design process. Therefore this is a fulfilling role for a proactive individual who thrives in a customer focussed engineering environment, where they design and produce very specialist equipment precisely and effectively.

You will develop a ‘best practice’ model for the design and manufacture of creative problem solutions, and you will become the technical authority of seating products. You will deliver on-time and cost effective design solutions, working both in Basingstoke and Sheffield to enhance a team approach.

It is essential that you are a practically minded, methodical individual, who thrives in a ‘hands on’ role, with excellent attention to detail. You’ll also need to be focused and flexible in your approach, with a strong focus on quality. You will be a reliable team worker with excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with other teams and individuals in order to develop effective seating solutions.

We very much welcome applications from experienced seating or design engineers who are looking for a new opportunity. Ideally the successful candidate will have previous experience of working in a mechanical design engineering role, where they have worked with Solidworks for product design.

Previous experience of working with mobility products or other types of assistive technology is highly beneficial, as well as an awareness of Medical Devices Regulations, although due to the unique nature of the role this is not essential.

The nature of the role is varied so the successful candidate will maintain high standards when working to varying deadlines and in different capacities. This is a permanent position and as standard the core working hours are 36.5 hours per week on Monday to Friday. In return, we offer a competitive salary package, excellent benefits and the opportunity to work as part of a highly specialist and experienced team.

If this sounds like the type of role you are looking for and you are a pragmatic individual, who is looking for a new challenge, with an excellent employer, we want to hear from you! Please forward your CV to Laura Mann, HR Advisor or contact Laura in confidence for more information
