ELECTRICAL DESIGN MANAGER / OPERATIONS MANAGER

Location: Based in East Yorkshire: Commutable from Barton, Brigg, Beverley, Bridlington, Cottingham, Driffield, Hessle, Hornsea, Hull, Goole, Grimsby, Scunthorpe, York

SALARY AND BENEFITS: £35,000- £50,000 + Pension + 22 days holiday plus stats rising with service + Long Term Progression to Directorship

COMPANY INFORMATION: My client is a long-standing Engineering Company manufacturing Electrical solutions on a global scale. They have ambitious plans for the future and are breaking into new profitable markets within the Renewables sector.

YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

• Must have previous experience as an Electrical Design Manager or Senior Electrical Design Engineer with experience of using a range of different Electrical Software whether this be E-plan, Amtech, Autodesk etc
• Must have excellent communication skills
• Must have the ability to lead and implement a new software solution within Design Team
• Ability to coach, develop and lead the other Design staff within the business
• Very accurate attention to detail
• Ability to hit targets and work to KPI’s
• Must have the desire and hunger to move to an Operational / Director role
• A drive for success
• Must be commercially astute and be able to liaise with Customers, Suppliers, the board and other managers

ROLE INFORMATION:

This is a newly created role for the business and is vey unique as it starts off as an Electrical Design Manager role, but then leads to more of an Operations based position.

Phase One
Initially your aim will be to get a thorough understanding of the company’s product range and how the design function works. It will be a key part of phase one to assess the departments working practices and outputs and put forward any improvements thought necessary. Once agreed it will be the design managers responsibility to implement changes which the board has agreed.

Phase Two
Once phase one is complete the role will progress to that of Operations Manager. Responsibility for design will remain, but will then also include the factory.

Main Responsibility
• Manage all resources in the departments to meet production schedules
• Manage the design resource to meet customer requirements
• Drive jobs through the factory to meet and exceed productivity targets
• Responsible for maintaining all departmental administration and MI
• The planning of all work and to deal with all production issues that may arise
• Ensure a safe working environment ensuring ll health and safety obligations are met
• To be responsible for all quality matters to maintain the company’s accreditations
• Assist estimating by conducting time analysis projects to ensure accurate pricing
• To be responsible for all staff in the factory

Planning organising and problem solving
It is the Operations Managers responsibility to manage design and the factory’s activity to meet customer requirements. Proactively focusing and directing attention to provide solutions for all problems is vital to the role. Continual questioning and assessing to seek and deliver efficiencies to increase productivity is essential to the role. Ensure machine maintenance and organising staff recruitment, training and development are all key aspects of the role.
