The role

The role of Senior Project Manager is instrumental in supporting our growing Project Management function. Working within a project services environment, this newly created role requires a strong, well rounded and dynamic individual with proven Project Management capabilities on a large multi-faceted project or multiple projects managed at the same time. A demonstrable ability to work across all levels of stakeholders within a commercial environment is required. Reporting to the Portfolio Manager, this individual will be responsible for managing the successful delivery of change including IT projects to agreed time, cost and quality standards.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Project initiation and definition of required deliverable and governance model
  • Planning across all stages of the project lifecycle and obtaining appropriate levels of sign-off
  • Ensuring projects are delivered to agreed time, cost, quality, TCF, Conduct Risk and compliance objectives
  • Management of the project on a day to day basis to deliver in line with agreed project plans
    Management of third parties to ensure successful delivery
  • Execution of project plan, monitoring progress and taking all necessary actions and escalations where appropriate
  • Reporting progress at agreed intervals to the Project Review Board
  • Engaging and communicating effectively with key business and client stakeholders
  • Risk identification, documentation and impact assessment, including action mitigation and management
  • Issue and dependency management with appropriate stakeholder communication
  • Provision of accurate project and financial status updates
  • Identifying potential improvements as part of a wider Project Management Competency
  • Completing Project Closure ensuring all lessons learnt are documented and appropriate actions assigned to prevent reoccurrence
  • Programme level responsibilities as and when required

Qualifications and skills


  • Proven project management track record in a delivery environment
  • Effective and productive stakeholder management both internally at all levels and with 3rd parties
  • Ability to lead, motivate and manage cross functional, multi-disciplined teams
  • Ability to build productive relationships with functions and third parties outside of the project team
  • Apply a flexible approach to successfully deliver to tight deadlines or changing scope
  • Ability to prioritise and multi task in a challenging working environment with excellent organisational skills
  • Strong influencing skills and an ability to apply an appropriate level of challenge
  • A professional approach and manner with an aptitude to learn
  • A team player, taking pride in helping the team to deliver
  • Ability to demonstrate strong customer focus and communicate in business language
  • Experience of working with business customers and technical delivery resources (including 3rd party suppliers)
  • Proficient in MS Office applications including MS Project and VISIO
  • Must have delivered software development projects as well as business change projects
  • Practitioner in Project Management - Prince 2 or industry standard equivalent qualification


  • Experience working within an outsourcing environment
  • Experience in delivering regulatory projects
  • Experience either in the delivery of and or working with SAP, Crest, Calestone, Pega Document Management, EMX, Web Services
  • Relevant Collective Investment / Transfer Agency qualification such as the Investment Operations Certificate (IOC) or equivalent
