The Reporting Development Accountant will have a key role to play in the implementation of IFRS 9 and 17, a significant change to the IFRS reporting landscape for insurance companies.

As a key part of the technical team working on IFRS 9 and 17 implementation, you will contribute to:

  • Working with Prudential Group Finance to establish the IFRS 9 & 17 accounting policies for implementation within Prudential UK&Europe

  • Performing financial impact analysis to inform decision making

  • Working with non-technical colleagues to assist in the specification of systems and processes to be able to deliver IFSR 9 & 17 in a BAU environment

  • Delivering the opening balance sheet and prior year comparatives in conjunction with the BAU reporting teams

  • Delivering proforma financial statements for the UK&E life insurance companies

  • Providing technical advice to other areas of Finance and the business on the impact of IFRS 9 & 17

Your skills will ideally include:

  • Strong influencing skills, able to grasp complex concepts and technical details quickly and communicate them effectively with a number of stakeholders with varying degrees of IFRS knowledge

  • Ability to critically challenge technical requirements and propose workable solutions in a time sensitive manner

  • Ability to make recommendations that balance technical requirements, commercial outcomes and control/process implications

  • Good understanding of applying materiality and audit requirements in implementing new accounting standards.

To succeed in this role, you will be a fully qualified accountant with significant accounting and reporting expertise within the Financial Services Industry, preferably in the life insurance sector.
