Network Consultant - Required Competencies:

  • CCNP and degree (or equivalent) qualified
  • 4 years+ experience in technical consultancy role, ideally in a client facing commercial organisation
  • Experience of technical environments - Data centre hosting, virtualisation, networking, authentication and security
  • Significant experience of all aspects of complex physical and virtual networking infrastructure in a multi tenanted environment
  • Hands-on, pro-active approach to consultancy and support assistance
  • Report generation and statistical analysis experience
  • Technical design and testing plan creation experience

In depth knowledge of the following:

  • Multi-Tenanted environments, Cisco Nexus switches
  • Configuring vPCs and related L2 connectivity, Cisco ASA 5585 clustering
  • Spanning Tree Protocol - RSTP and MSTP
  • QoS and CoS experience
  • IP telephony deployments, Datacentre Interconnects
  • Deploying and maintaining WAN networks - IP and Ethernet WANs

Network Consultant - Key Accountabilities:

To provide hands on technical expertise to the business and their Managed Service / hosted customers consuming services from our datacentres. To also provide traditional consultancy to other customers within a project or programme environment. To assist with defining and planning technical strategy, standards and our future services roadmap. Main Duties will include, but not be limited to;

  • Assisting in defining, planning and implementing all technical services and standards
  • Assisting in the pre-sales process to ensure designs fulfil both customer requirements and operational standards
  • Working within project teams as a technical subject matter expert (SME), assisting in solution scoping, design and deployment, and support transition
  • Reviewing and recommending new technologies for potential inclusion into services or customer environments
  • Hands on configuration of complex and custom components for project implementations and service improvements/changes
  • Consulting with new and existing customers to deliver value added professional services
  • Assisting in developing and implementing Information Security standards and procedures
  • Creating comprehensive technical documentation (including standards) within core competency areas, for internal and external use
