Senior Marketing Executive

Job Description

Responsible for proposing, managing and executing direct marketing campaigns for a specific titles, maximising magazine subscription sales and contribution across the full portfolio of titles. Identifying and championing all opportunities for further growth. Overseeing the administration function of the marketing team including the management of the marketing database.

Scope of Job

  • Visualise - seeing the opportunities for all titles, making connections from subscriptions expertise to create new direct marketing opportunities
  • Budget - produce rolling plans for the titles in agreement with the marketing manager
  • Maximise ROI from marketing database
  • Drive and oversee digital plans alongside Marketing Manager
  • Support subscriptions team with planning, implementation and reporting
  • Key contact for external suppliers - Dovetail & Intermedia
  • Overseeing and maxamising the database
  • Scheduling the work load of two members of staff

Duties and key responsibilities:

  • Online - maximising the opportunities to drive subscription sales on the titles’ own websites, esubscriber, any relevant microsites, other commercial sites and external sites
  • Direct mail - use database marketing and market knowledge to maximise return on investment from launch, acquisition, renewal, sampler and other direct mail activity
  • Email - assess the effectiveness of email marketing and make recommendations for testing and increasing responses via this channel. Ensure regular email campaigns are set up and sent to current subscribers and prospects. Working to agreed targets.
  • Off-the-page - maximise the return on investment from pages in the magazines and obtain space in other magazines for individual title campaigns
  • Telemarketing (in-bound and outbound) - carrying out and reviewing regular cost-effective campaigns
  • Explore and develop new channels along side the Digital Marketing Executive including social media, email marketing as well as product sales
  • Monitor, manage & budget gift and product stock
  • Oversee and develop renewal campaigns

Implement best practice campaigns for:

  • Acquisition - thinking long term about the ROI/ lifetime value on all sources and encouraging the business to explore a variety of warm and cold prospects
  • Renewal - focusing maximum investment and time on our most profitable customers
  • Cross-selling - supporting the team in generating more revenue from our most profitable customers
  • Testing - defining robust tests and test matrices and implementing tests that generate meaningful results
  • Data -facilitate the best possible use of internal data to meet customer needs and maximise sales
  • Third parties / suppliers - develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with external suppliers to deliver the most efficient and cost-effective partnerships
  • For each campaign implement the optimum:
  • Increasing volume, revenue and profitability across the portfolio
  • Building and maintaining profitable relationships with third parties selling on our behalf or buying subscriptions from us
  • Monitoring and managing budgets
  • Payment method - promoting direct debit as the payment method of choice
  • Offer - analysing and reviewing on a regular basis to ensure that the best offer is put in place
