We are looking for an IT Infrastructure Lead (Linux, Manager) to joinour Service Management team within Exeter IT. You will lead and developa team of specialists and engineers, ensuring the secure, efficient andsmooth running of the core production environment to an appropriatelevel and to deliver the uninterrupted provisioning of operational services. These include high performance computing, software applications,multi-functional devices, storage, physical infrastructure, commercialof the shelf (COTS) and open source packages and solutions, virtual andcloud including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, identity management,authentication and access management. The IT Infrastructure Lead (Linux, Manager) role: - You will be responsible for the performance of the core productionenvironment and the availability of applications, infrastructure,platforms and networks, and ensure they meet agreed service levels. - You will be delivering results and managing goals and targets set bythe Infrastructure Manager for your team, by adapting objectives to meetcustomer's needs, and report against these to demonstrate progress. - You will be providing line management, operational management, andleadership of a team of IT specialists, ensuring the team delivers aneffective service to the University. - You will also be responsible for professional mentoring of teamresources ensuring that the capabilities of your team develop alongsideindustry change, and deliver training on your area of expertise as required. - You will also be implementing a broad variety of complex technical,operational and problem solving activities for IT applications andservices, and provide professional advice about your area of expertiseto academic and professional services staff. You will: - Have an understanding of a broad range of infrastructure technologiesincluding; LDAP, Active Directory, VMware/Hyper-V, RedHat EnterpriseLinux, CentOS, MS Windows Server 2003 and above, Anti-virus products. (Afull list can be found in the person specification document). - You will have knowledge of backup technologies and mythologies. - Practical application of High Availability, Resilience and clusteringserver techniques. - Have recent experience of designing and implementing infrastructureplatforms and technologies, demonstrating working knowledge ofappropriate theories and standard methodologies. - Be a keen problem solver with demonstrable skills, and a methodicalapproach, regardless of its complexity. - Validated ability to communicate across multi-functional andtechnical working teams and build ongoing relationships to ensureeffective communications and exchange of information. - Have recent practice in leading a complex IT production environment. - You will also have some leadership experience and experience inleading teams in a matrix environment, setting performance standards andtargets, forming teams, and motivating others.
