The Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) Platform Engineering team is looking for a Linux Clustering Engineer to maintain and enhance the automation and tools that manage our 5,000 production VCS (Veritas Cluster Server) clusters. The successful candidate will also be responsible for evaluating and implementing alternative solutions such as Pacemaker and Kubernetes.The IaaS Platform Engineering team is responsible for designing and implementing the global Linux and Virtualization infrastructure for distributed systems. The group is involved in evaluation, certification, integration, and maintenance of numerous products, including hardware, hypervisor platform, the Linux OS platform, system configuration, critical infrastructure services (DNS, DHCP, NTP, etc.), the Docker Engine, high availability products and virtualization management technologies. Role Profile The position involves a mix of strategic engineering and design, along with hands-on, technical work including coding in Perl and Python.You will have experience of automating the administration of large scale production systems. You will be able to write secure, testable, robust code. You will be enthusiastic to apply modern software development practices such as test driven development, agile, git, code review and continuous integration.You will be joining a global team of highly accomplished DevOps engineers who are are as comfortable writing code as they are doing deep dive troubleshooting. Skills Required Linux and networking fundamentals .Ability to write robust, maintainable scripts in Python, Perl or Ruby with good unit test coverage.Experience administering at least one High Availability platform (Veritas Cluster Server, Pacemaker, Kubernetes or similar).Effective troubleshooting skills across all components of the plant (HW, OS, network, storage).Good knowledge of at least one configuration management system such as salt stack, puppet, chef, ansible or similar. Skills Desired Exposure to modern development tools and practices including git, jenkins, test-driven development and continuous integration.Familiarity with C, UNIX system calls, and low-level OS and network debugging.In-depth knowledge of the Veritas InfoScale product.Contributor to open source projects would be an ideal fit. - provided by Dice AGILE, CLUSTERING, CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT, DHCP, DNS, DOCKER, IAAS, LINUX, PERL, PUPPET, PYTHON, RUBY, UNIX, VIRTUALIZATION
