A great opportunity has arisen for a Media Officer for an international children s charity in order to respond to journalist enquiries, build key journalist relationships and generate national media coverage to reach key audiences. The media officer works as part of a three-strong team to raise the charity s national media profile, with additional responsibilities to reach targeted specialist media. This will be a permanent role based in London. Key Responsibilities will include: Working as part of a news team to react to the daily news agenda, respond to journalist enquiries and brief staff on media stories. Devising and implementing creative multi-media campaigns in support of the charity strategic priorities. Produce media assets such as photographs, press releases, blogs and videos. Building strong relationships with journalists and other key external influencers in order to build the profile and credibility of the charity, its work, policies. Working with colleagues to advise and agree messaging around key campaigns to target both public, government and audiences. Advising and influencing the charity staff on media issues. Sourcing compelling case studies and impact data that support identified story angles to demonstrate the charity s impact and donor accountability. Pitching stories to key national print, broadcast and online media, uploading releases and statements onto the website Networking with global communications teams across regional, national and support offices, to ensure joined up messages on global campaigns In order to apply you should have the following skills and experience: Knowledge of the current online and offline media market and social media landscape Understanding of modern media and social media communications techniques and channels Superb skills in writing news statements and releases Strong background in media relations and/or journalism Experience in devising and delivering media plans and strategies Experience in handling reputational risk issues Ability to form extensive contacts with journalists Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent people management skills
