St Paul’s Way Trust School, in association with Queen Mary University of London, is seeking to appoint an outstanding qualified Teacher of Sociology.

This is an exciting career opportunity for a colleague who is passionate about the entitlement of young people to inspiring sociology lessons. Working within a vibrant and highly successful faculty, you will be an outstanding classroom teacher with a passionate commitment to the progress of all students in our fully comprehensive and heavily oversubscribed school. The successful candidate will have an unwavering belief in the potential of every student and support them in improving their life chances. (S)he will do what it takes to ensure that students achieve their best, and will inspire curiosity and enthusiasm for the subject which motivates students. The successful candidate will teach Sociology at KS5 and will be required to teach another Humanities subject (History, Geography or RE) at KS3 or KS4. Dependent on skills and experience, a TLR and/or the opportunity to teach Government and Politics at KS5 may be available. As this is the first year that Sociology will be taught at A Level, the successful candidate will lead on establishing and designing the course. The school has a comprehensive CPD programme.

In March 2013, Ofsted described the school as ‘Outstanding’ in every category, including the VI Form. The school was commended for its “relentless pursuit of scholarship and excellence”. Both the school and the Humanities Faculty were in the top 10% in 2017 for Progress 8. We are entering our second year as a National Teaching School. Our award winning new building is situated in the heart of East London.

If you would like to play your part in delivering outstanding provision for our students, we would very much like to hear from you.

Deadline for applications: Midday, Friday 23rd February

Interviews will be taking place on Thursday 1st March
