A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated individual looking to join our Babcock 4S team as an Area Catering Officer, based in Leatherhead. The role is term time only (39 weeks per year) 30 hours per week.

Purpose of role:

• Support the Catering Services Manager in monitoring the Catering Framework Agreement
• Provide catering and contract advice and support to over 300 schools and academies through support service buybacks
• To operate the Free School Meal Eligibility Checking Service

Person specification
Technical Skills/Competencies:
• IT Skills, Word, Excel
• Hold a full valid driving license and own car. Considerable travel is involved across Surrey.

• Self-motivated with the ability to use initiative, work independently, flexibly and as part of a team
• Establish good working relationships with staff and stakeholders at all levels.
• Challenge, negotiate and influence
• Must be suitable to work with children and pass an enhanced DBS clearance.

• Committed to improvement in outcomes for children and young people, and demonstrates high levels of integrity, accountability, partnership and engagement

Industry Knowledge/Qualifications/Experience:

Have a recognized catering qualification, knowledge and /or experience of Catering, (preferably in Education), catering legislation and an understanding of the development and implementation of Government Food Standards in schools and academies.

Key Tasks and Activities:
• Be responsible for monitoring catering provision and advising schools in Surrey primary & secondary schools
• Ensure a consistent high quality catering service is provided to schools through termly contract performance, service observations through site visits and liaise with contractors to ensure all specifications are met.
• Process Environmental Health Officer reports and liaise with EHOs, contractors and schools to ensure all works complete
• To assist and support with schools and academies in sustaining the Universal Infant Free School Meals legislation.
• Coordinate with SCC/SCS and Diocese on kitchen refurbishments and small projects
• Liaise with all stakeholders and specialists to develop and approve new kitchen schemes and plans, detailing specification of equipment and finishes.
• To operate the Free School Meal Eligibility Checking Service to Surrey schools and academies and external customers.

Additional Key Accountabilities:

• Responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
• Protect assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference
• Comply with the Company’s established policies and procedures and the Data Protection Act 1998
• Represent Babcock 4S and the Local Authority at National and Regional meetings etc.

Role Information

Salary £18,470 (FTE £26,000)
30 hours per week
Term time only 39 weeks per year
