Maintenance Technician - (Nights)

Principal Duties:

- Carry out maintenance on a waste treatment facility. This will include reactive breakdown and preventative maintenance of mechanical sorting plant such as shredders, balers, waste separation equipment and conveyors;
- Basic repairs on mobile plant;
- General site maintenance of other specified equipment to ensure plant is available and runs efficiently;
- Undertaking minor improvement works;
- Carrying out daily checks in accordance with company procedures, site working plan and planned preventative maintenance system (PPM);
- Recording all jobs completed and parts used using the company asset breakdown and stock control systems;
- Co-operating with site management;
- Working to health and safety, environmental and other standards as they apply to the process;
- Working with contractors, including the issuing of Permits to Work and observational monitoring;
- Maintaining high levels of tidiness and housekeeping in the workshop and in areas where maintenance work is undertaken;
- Working to timescales and deadlines.
- You may at times be required to carry out duties not shown in the outline job description above.

Person Requirements:

Candidates for this role should possess the following skills:

- A demonstrable period of plant/mechanical maintenance experience.
- Have served a full mechanical engineering/maintenance apprenticeship;
- Knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulics would be advantageous as would fabrication skills such as welding, etc;
- Basic electrical skills/ fault finding; would be advantageous
- The ability to work in a team based environment;
- Flexibility and willingness to be involved in all aspects of the operation;
- Experience of working in an operation with quality and health and safety systems.

In addition:

- The role will include a Saturday / Bank Holiday rota on an overtime rate in accordance with the contractual terms.
- The right person for this role should be a team player and have the ability to work well unsupervised, manage their time effectively and be self-motivated;
- Experience in the waste or utilities industries and knowledge of waste industry practices would be advantageous
