NHS Providers is the membership organisation and trade association for NHS trusts and foundation trusts delivering acute hospital, community, mental health and ambulance services. We support our members to deliver high quality, patient focused care by enabling them to learn from each other, acting as their public voice and helping shape the system in which they operate. NHS Providers has over 95% of all NHS Trusts in membership.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join NHS Providers as a Policy Officer to support our work in tracking and influencing the national agenda on issues affecting public providers of NHS services. In particular, the post holder will help to shape our programme of influence and support on Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships (STPs), Integrated Care Systems (ICSs), integrated care models and proposals to develop Accountable Care Models (ACOs) as well as contributing to a range of policy projects across the wider policy team.
The successful candidate will be working closely with the senior management of NHS Providers on these issues, as well as board directors of NHS trusts and foundation trusts to gather frontline insight and intelligence. This includes joint working with other policy officers and policy advisors, and with the communications and development & engagement directorates to develop constructive solutions for the challenges facing the provider sector.
In a given week you may be asked to do one or more of the following: contribute to a consultation response on an issue relevant to STPs or accountable care, work with colleagues in the analysis team to improve how we track and record information about STPs and accountable care internally, brief a senior colleague on the challenges providers are facing while leading or contributing to their STP before they meet a senior counterpart in Whitehall or work with colleagues to develop a roundtable, network event or conference session to share information or good practice.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience of working within health and care or a similarly complex environment and an understanding of the challenges facing public services in the current strategic context.
