We are looking for a Lead Developer (Manager, JavaScript, Oracle, SQL)to join our Solutions Delivery team in Exeter IT. You will be in eitherthe CAS team (Corporate & Academic Systems) or our DICE team (DataIntegrations & Collaborative Environments), and will lead aspecialist development team, ensuring the delivery, development,implementation and support for the University's information systems,applications and platforms to an appropriate level. You will support the Head of Development in the development andcontinuous improvement of an innovative and customer focussed service,driving the team to produce greater consistency and efficiency throughthe use of standard procedures, processes and use of systems, alongsidebespoke, innovative solutions as required. The Lead Developer (Manager, JavaScript, Oracle, SQL) role: - You will be responsible for your team's delivery of large and smallIT changes, including the development, deployment and testing of new applications, platforms anddigital services, building components and programming, and identifying and making improvements orupgrades to existing applications that stays in sync with the Strategy & Architecturestandards and principles. - Provide line management, operational management and leadership of ateam of IT development specialists, ensuring the team delivers an effective service to the University. - You will be responsible for professional mentoring and mentorship ofteam resources, ensuring that the capabilities of your team develop alongside industry change,developing suitable materials and performance indicators. - You will deliver multi-functional and rapid application developmentusing DevOps software development and traditional Waterfall development, including themigration of legacy technologies onto new cloud-based platforms. - You will possess an up to date knowledge of meaningful technologies,coupled with a solid focus on user requirements and strategic planning, which will deliver acomputing infrastructure capable of facilitating elite research. You will: - Be technically fluent in programming languages, web services or otherappropriate technical skills such as: JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, CSS,XML. Oracle SQL or Microsoft SQL. Experience in configuring and workingwith suppliers of commercial off the shelf solutions. - Have proven experience of leadership and managing teams in a matrixenvironment, setting performance standards and targets, building communities, and motivating others. - Have the ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences, asthe role will involve building relationships across the University's complex infrastructure. - Have experience of working in an Agile DevOps environment. - Have an understanding of software design principles. - Be passionate about new IT and digital technologies, and promote andbe an advocate for the IT operating model and IT & Digital strategies. - Be flexible, adaptive, and proactive in your approach to seekcontinuous improvement of our services and technologies. - Be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant academic area.
