Our client in the West Yorkshire region has an immediate requirement to recruit a well versed senior quality engineer.
This is a new position due to a department restructure.

Job Brief

Role Purpose:
To manage customer concerns and develop a culture of structured problem solving through leading, coaching and engaging cross functional teams to be self-sufficient in the process. Develop a key quality related knowledge within the business and its interested parties.
Kay Accountabilities:
• Develop a robust problem solving culture within the business, driving down the number of customer concerns and promote a mind-set of continuous improvement
• Lead, coach and engage teams through the problem solving process and support the practical application of countermeasures
• Define and effectively apply continuous improvement initiatives for all related activities in the facility using lean tools
• Analyse and measure the effectiveness of complex processes and develop sustainable, repeatable and quantifiable business process improvements including 6 sigma, 5S, SOPS, Poke yoke, Process Mapping, etc
• Responsibility for customer issues, developing their trust and confidence in you and the business
• Develop key suppliers to drive through improvements in quality related metrics in a timely manner
• The development, implementation and ongoing management of standardised work for inspection and quality activities
• Train and coach interested parties in process or system changes as a result of project work
• Develop strong quality related, product and process knowledge and awareness throughout the business

Experience
• Sound knowledge and a demonstrable record of problem solving using recognised industry standards
• Degree, or working towards a Degree or similar qualification in a relevant manufacturing / engineering discipline.
• Sound knowledge of quality related tools and techniques
• Excellent analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail in order to prepare statistical analysis
• Experience of being a key player in cultural change programmes
• Experience of a Production System or Operational excellence system

System Knowledge

• PC literate in MS Office
• Advanced Excel capability
• Minitab v17
• ISO TS16949 / IATF 16949 awareness

• Flexibility to travel at short notice, usually abroad
• Ability to take tough decisions under time pressure
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work successfully in cross-functional teams
• Assertive, taking the lead in pressurised situations to the satisfaction of interested parties
• Ability to communicate effectively with all customers and employees in a timely and effective manner
• Tenacious, with the ability to sell ideas to others and to overcome resistance to change
• Drive through improvement projects in a timely manner
• Methodical and thorough with an appreciation for appropriate level of detail

• UK driving license
• Valid UK passport
