This market- leading, innovative company are seeking an Assistant Accountant to strengthen their existing finance team. Working in state of the art offices, this role might suit someone working currently as an Accounts Assistant, Bookkeeper or Ledger and Payroll Clerk and who is looking for the next step in their career. With study support available, AAT, CAT, ACCA, CIMA or ACA or equivalent studiers will all be considered.

Investing in their people is the highest priority and reporting into the Finance Manager this role offers the opportunity for continuous improvement of the finance function of the business. You will be responsible for:

Reconciling financial accounts, maintaining records, maintaining spreadsheets and assisting in the preparation of the management accounts including accruals and prepayments
Assisting with preparing budgets and forecasts, year end analysis and helping co-ordinate internal and external audits
Ensuring the trial balance is up to date each month end and preparing relevant reports for review
Updating Payroll records, preparing reports and scheduling monthly pay runs
Resolving Payroll discrepancies by collecting and analysing information and answering questions and requests
Maintaining employee confidence and protecting payroll operations by keeping information confidential
Ensuring new customers are set up in a timely manner, customer records are maintained and that invoices and receipts are posted accurately
Reviewing and chasing debtors whilst ensuring credit limits are monitored
Maintaining accurate records of all chased payments
Banking all receipts
Carrying out Credit checks on new customers
Processing invoices and payments runs to suppliers based on invoices approved for payment
Proactively resolving any discrepancies or issues that arise with sales or purchase invoices and raising with the Finance Manager in order that a timely resolution can be identified
Assisting the Finance Manager and Finance Director with any other duties as required.

To be successful in your application, you will ideally be a AAT, CAT, CIMA, ACCA or ACA Part Qualified or a Qualified by Experience Accountant, Accounts Assistant or Assistant Accountant. You will have previous experience of all the above duties and be IT literate. You will have previous Sage experience and Credit Control experience would be desirable.

You will have effective interpersonal and relationship building skills and will be organised, with a keen eye for detail. You will have a good understanding of management accounts, be an excellent communicator and be driven to achieve results.
