Who will I be working with?

Altimex is an award-winning specialist supplier of electronic manufacturing services. The innovative and ambitious company supports one-off bespoke projects as well as large scale high volume roll outs. The business scope covers from initial concept and design through to electronic and mechanical assembly, with technical advice and service available throughout the entire process. Over the past 20 years, Altimex has served a range of sectors, spanning aerospace through to automotive, communications, security and traffic management.

So, what will the role of Electronics Assembly Technician entail?

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, as an Electronics Assembly Technician you’ll be responsible for assembling products using both Plated Through Hole (PTH) and Surface Mount (SMT) assembly techniques. Your duties will include but not be limited to:

* Operating Surface Mount equipment in accordance to company procedures, quality standards and IPC standards
* Identifying components, placing and hand soldering PTH Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs)
* Understanding and working to drawings and bills of material
* Ensuring all tasks are carried out in accordance with the quality management system and ISO 9001 as appropriate
* Carrying out all tasks in compliance with company health and safety procedures, and ensuring good housekeeping is maintained in the work area

What will I need in order to be considered for this Electronics Assembly Technician vacancy?

* Proven experience in electronic soldering and testing activities
* Ability to read and understand assembly drawings, schematic diagrams and work instructions
* Proven experience of setting up, maintaining and operating production equipment in accordance to good manufacturing practices
* Excellent organisation and time management skills with high levels of attention to detail
* A proactive, driven and willing work ethic with the ability to work well as part of a team and autonomously

Although not essential, proven experience of sub assembly work following standardised assembly instructions, and operational familiarity with soldering irons, hand tools, electrical test and precision measuring instruments would be highly advantageous.

Should you be shortlisted for interview, you will be required to complete a short soldering exercise to determine your suitability and competence.

What will I receive in return?

You will be part of an ambitious business where hard work, dedication and contribution to business goals will be noticed and rewarded.

Salary: £15,600 (equivalent to £8 per hour), level dependent on experience. On occasions where overtime is required this will be paid in addition to your salary.
