£50,000 – 70,000 + Bonus Scheme + Fully Expensed Company Car + Pension

My client is a global provider of bespoke materials handling solutions used in the automotive, healthcare, retail and FMCG markets. The company is part of a global group with over 100,000 employees with a UK workforce in excess of 300 staff. The company design all of their own bespoke pieces of materials handling equipment and then carry out full project execution in mechanical design, software design and Project Management.

The company has ambitious plans to grow in the next few years and lots of exciting new projects in the pipeline, they also boast a superb staff retention record and have a projects department employing over 20 people including Project Managers, Project Engineers and Design Engineers.

A key part to this staff retention is the warm and welcoming culture the company creates and they are now looking to add a new Project Manager to their team, they are looking for a Project Manager with a wealth of Project Management experience and are open to considering people from Engineering, Manufacturing, Civil or Construction Project Management backgrounds.

The Role

As a Project Manager you will be totally responsible for realisation of projects ranging from £10 million up to £40 million. You will be responsible for manage the customer relationship throughout the entire project and ensuring the project is delivered to a solid profit margin.

The Projects being sold are integrated materials handling systems comprising of conveyors, cranes, shuttle systems and all of the associated electrical and controls technology required.

A project will typically go through the following key stages:

* Shadowing the Sales Project Manager to understand the scope of works being undertaken.

* Once the order is won you will orchestrate the Project and Design Engineers to carry out the design and equipment specification activity required.

* Understand what third party services are required for the project (racking, robots, bar code readers, packaging equipment) and ensure the Purchasing Manager is clear on the plan.

* Once equipment begins being manufactured by the third party companies you will ensure the suppliers are on track to deliver what’s required.

* Manage any changes to contract with the customer or key suppliers during the course of the project.

* When construction at site begins you will ensure the Site Manager has a clear plan to bring the project together and attend site meetings to discuss progress and issues with the customer.

The Candidate

To be successful in your application for this Project Management role you will need:

* Project Management experience from an engineering, manufacturing, civil or construction background.
* To have excellent skills in planning, delegating and organising others.
* To be able to build effective relationships with customers.
* To have solid experience managing sub contracted suppliers.
* A supporting engineering qualification.
