Workshop Service Supervisor - Construction Machinery

To be considered for this role it is essential that you have working knowledge of Construction Machinery including Excavators, Loaders etc.

The key parts of this role is to supervise a team of engineers/plant fitters and parts staff.

Job Summary:

To effectively control the operation of all workshop engineers/plant fitters and parts staff while maintaining maximum profit and efficiency as well as delivering a first class service to both internal & external customers. To be first point of contact within the workshop and to deputise for the Manager when so authorised.
To ensure the team delivers the highest levels of customer service to external and internal customers in the supply of replacement parts for the range of products.

Workshop Service Supervisor Job Content:

Main Tasks / Responsibilities / Authorities:
• Demonstrate effective leadership of Plant Fitters, Parts Sales and Stores Persons, including coaching, mentoring and training where appropriate to ensure that Staff are adequately trained to perform the tasks expected of them.
• To effectively plan organise & prioritise workshop activities ensuring all jobs are completed within the required time frame and to the required standard whilst adhering to the appropriate processes.
• Ensure the Parts team deliver the highest possible levels of Customer Service.
• To maintain and develop customer relationships by telephone & visits with Used Parts manager, and thereby enhance customer satisfaction
• To advise the manager of parts problems (availability, price etc.)
• Ensure that the Company’s core values are respected and procedures are followed as per the QMS (Quality Management System). .
• Work in accordance with UK standards of health, safety, quality and environmental care promoting a proactive health and safety culture.
• To effectively manage employees in the area of responsibility including motivation, manpower planning, training needs, dissemination of information, performance management and Health and Safety.
• To induct oversee the work of all sub-contractors on site ensuring adherence to company rules and guidelines.
• To ensure effective yard management ensuring all machines and implements are booked in / out correctly.
• To ensure effective performance in all areas of Workshop Administration.
• To ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained in the workshop and yard area at all times.
• To ensure Apprentices have the correct supervision, mentoring and hands on development.
• Any other duties that may be reasonably requested by your manager.

Required knowledge & experience:
• Formal apprenticeship in Construction Plant / similar or proven experience.
• Any formal qualification i.e. ILM, NVQ, City and Guilds, ONC. etc.
• A sound knowledge of construction equipment products and markets.
