Position: Front End Developer
Salary: £33,000 - £36,000 depending on experience
Location: Chester

OVERALL OBJECTIVE
To play a key role in the front-end development and maintenance of clients websites, online products and e-marketing collateral.

The role demands the ability to work alongside marketing staff and backend developers and designers to implement, test and support existing and new functionality.

The ideal candidate should be a fast learner and keen to adopt new technologies

KEY TASKS:

Website design

- Design, optimize, maintain and support websites using tools such as HTML/HTML5, CSS, CSS3, JavaScript, Bootstrap, jQuery, Adobe Photoshop.
- UX and page template design for the clients website.
- Edit and encode video and audio for use on sites.
- Produce work that complies with coding and accessibility standards, is responsive and optimised for search engines.
- Coach and support editorial, marketing and commercial staff in use of digital technology and ensure compliance to agreed brand, design and web standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, working with internal clients and external suppliers.
- Prototyping websites using Adobe Xd.

E Mail Marketing

- Design e mail marketing templates to ensure

- browser and mobile device compatibility
- successful tracking of all calls to action
- design of online adverts

Quality assurance

- Responsible for drafting or updating documentation for the web design and production.
- Taking a leading role in quality assurance of all the clients websites in particular front end design
- Monitoring websites to ensure updates and developments are promptly uploaded.
- Ensuring all code updates and deployment follow the agreed signoff procedures
- Technical testing and UAT of all sites.

Management reporting

- Assist with ad hoc requests for management information relating to online services.
- To carry out any other duties as reasonably directed from time to time by the Head of Digital Strategy and Development.
- Proactively develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the group, to ensure that business opportunities are followed through/value change is realised/services are improved/duplication of effort is avoided.
- Occasional travel within the UK sometimes with overnight stays.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

- Degree in a relevant discipline - Essential

EXPERIENCE OF:

- Web Development - Essential
- Graphic design and user-interface design - Essential
- Implementing and developing websites using proprietary content management system e.g. Sitecore - Essential
- Using web analytics solutions e.g. Google analytics, Google Tag Manager - Desirable
- Design of e mail marketing templates to ensure cross browser compatibility and high delivery rates - Essential
- Technical issues relating to cross browser capability and responsive design - Essential
- Video/audio recording and editing for the web - Essential
- Prototyping software (Adobe Xd or similar) - Essential

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

- Microsoft Visual Studio Environment - Essential
- Sitecore CMS 7.5 or higher - Desirable
- Version control (Git, Team City, Octopus Deploy) - Desirable
