Our client is recruiting for an Assistant Financial Reporting Newcastle upon Tyne.

This is a permanent full time role working 37.5 hours per week (flexible working available)

£22,(Apply online only) - £30,(Apply online only) per annum depending on experience

The Assistant Financial Reporting Accountant will deliver timely, robust, high quality statutory and group reporting.

The role is required to:

* Work both independently and in a collaborative team environment to deliver business reporting requirements – to include statutory, Group and ad hoc reporting

* Produce high quality statutory and group reporting deliverables

* Have good technical knowledge of IFRS and its application within the business referring to senior management for clarity if in doubt

* Challenge existing ways of working and to develop a continuous improvement culture

* Instil a customer facing culture to enable the delivery of best in class services to all stakeholders

The key responsibilities and duties include:

* Delivering accurate and timely group financial reporting and other ad-hoc deliverables for assigned legal entities

* Producing the financial statements for assigned legal entities

* Assist the team to ensure the accounts progress through audit in a timely manner

* Applying group financial accounting policy and procedures and contributing to their development as and when required

* Delivering in line with statutory and group monthly and quarterly reporting timetables

* Liaising with Tax, Treasury, Sector leads, internal and external auditors, as appropriate

* Complying with new accounting standards and referring to senior management for clarity if in doubt

* Taking responsibility for the development of your own technical knowledge, seeking coaching from the qualified members of the team, where required

* Assist in the roll out of the internal control framework across the SSC


Qualifications or Required Experience:

* To be AAT qualified and currently working towards a higher-level accounting qualification

* Demonstrable experience of working in a pressurised reporting environment

* Demonstrable experience of working in a team

* Ability to deliver on tight reporting deadlines

* Excellent planning and administration skills

* Well-developed communication skills

* Good working knowledge of IFRS

* Ability to proactively take on new work as and when required

* Ability to ask for help and guidance as and when the need arises


* Advanced knowledge of MS Excel

* Experience of SAP Business Planning and Consolidation is preferable but not essential

* Experience of statutory accounts preparation software such as Caseware is preferable but not essential
